Tony Blair may visit Libya

DOHA, Qatar, March 23 (UPI) -- Relations between the West and Libya may have gotten a bit warmer with the announcement British Prime Minister Tony Blair may visit Tripoli.

The son of Libyan leader Col. Moammar Gadhafi, Seif el-Islam Gadhafi, told reporters Monday night in Doha, Qatar, that Blair may visit Libya this week, the Web site albawaba.com reported.

The visit is part of the "warming relations" between Libya and Western nations since Gadhafi offered to give up his weapons of mass destruction following last year's war with Iraq.

Blair's office in London declined to comment Tuesday on any of the prime minister's travel plans for security reasons.
