Policemen die in Iraq attacks

BAGHDAD, March 23 (UPI) -- Seven Iraqi policemen were killed Tuesday in two separate attacks by suspected Iraqi insurgents south and east of Baghdad, reports said.

Security sources said five policemen died when gunmen opened fire from their automatic rifles on a police station in the city of Hulla, 100 kilometers (62 miles) south of Baghdad.

The attackers then fled in a small van.

A similar attack in the oil-center of Kirkuk, 260 kilometers (160 miles) east of the Iraqi capital killed two policemen, the source said.

In another development, seven Iraqi civilians were killed in the northern city of Mosul during a rocket attack on a training center for the new Iraqi army.
