Japanese doctors develop safe implants

TOKYO, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Japanese doctors may have found a way to use a combination of a woman's own fat and stem cells to make a natural breast implant.

The doctors told the BBC they hope the process can provide an alternative to artificial implants that are filled with saline or silicone and which can be hazardous.

Using a woman's own tissue has a number of potential advantages; including losing fat in undesired places and gaining breast size with no chance of the tissue being rejected by the immune system.

The Japanese team, located at the University of Tokyo, successfully completed its first operation in January.
