Father of hostage pleased some are free

LONDON, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- The father of a British tourist kidnapped in Colombia has reportedly welcomed the release of two of his son's companions.

The London Telegraph reported Monday Christopher Henderson said the release of German Reinhilt Weige and Spaniard Asier Huegen Echeverria was "one more step" toward securing the freedom of his TV producer son, Mark.

The National Liberation Army kidnapped eight foreign backpackers from archaeological ruins in the Sierra Nevada mountains on Sept. 12.

The Marxist rebels are still holding four Israelis and 31-year-old Mark Henderson, whose parents live in Pateley Bridge, North Yorkshire. Matthew Scott, 19, from London, escaped within days of his capture.

Said Henderson: "We are delighted to hear they have released the Spaniard and the German. We hope Mark and the four Israelis are released as soon as possible."
