CINCINNATI, June 18 (UPI) -- The Hatfield-McCoy feud may have ended, but the 26-year battle between Larry Flynt's Hustler magazine empire and the Cincinnati area continues.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Mike Allen announced Wednesday he'll ask for reinstatement of 15 felony obscenity charges filed in 1999 against Flynt and his brother, Jimmy. The charges were dropped when the brothers agreed never to sell sexually explicit videos in the Cincinnati area.
The announcement follows a Tuesday raid by sheriff's deputies at the Flynt's Cincinnati store, during which allegedly sexually explicit videos were seized.
Larry Flynt, who promises to fight the charges, told the Cincinnati Post: "This has been going on for 26 years. I think it's a personal vendetta from Hamilton County Sheriff Simon Leis and ... Allen."
In the 1970s Leis -- then the county prosecutor -- battled the Flynts in an obscenity case that gained national attention and spawned a major movie.
A jury ruled Hustler magazine was obscene but that conviction was later overturned.
