Hawaii lawmakers advance 2-year budget

HONOLULU, April 24 (UPI) -- A proposed $7.6 billion budget for Hawaii's coming biennium was approved Wednesday night by a House and Senate conference committee. The proposal, which now goes to the full Legislature, restores some funding for education without raising taxes or dipping into the state hurricane relief fund.
