Shoe-bomb suspect to plead guilty

BOSTON, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- A federal judge scheduled a Friday hearing into accused shoebomber Richard Reid's offer to plead guilty to charges he tried to blow up an American Airlines jetliner over the Atlantic last Dec. 22. Federal prosecutors said they are opposed to a defense motion that all references to Reid's alleged link to the al Qaida network be deleted from the indictment.
