Administration sends wildfire plan to Hill

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Legislation was delivered to Congress on Thursday that would implement President Bush's controversial Healthy Forest Initiative. The administration's proposal is aimed at reducing the risk of wildfire by accelerating projects to thin out overgrown forests, but environmentalists believe it is tilted toward commercial logging projects that do little to prevent fires.
