Woman returns money, wins $10,000

CHICAGO, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- A woman who found a large sum of cash in a money clip in a Marshall Field's dressing room turned it in and refused a reward, only to win $10,000 in a box of candy Field's insisted she take, the department store chain said Friday.

Kathleen Healy also won a trip to Chicago and a chance at $100,000.

"This is unbelievable," the 46-year-old Burnsville, Minn., woman said.

Healy was shopping earlier this month at Field's Rosedale, Minn., store. When she went into a dressing room to try on some jeans, "Sitting on the bench was a large wad of money in a big clip," Healy told the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "I could see a $50 on top and there was a $100 bill underneath."

Healy said she never counted the money because "it wasn't my money."

"When I went to pay for my jeans, I gave the money to the sales clerk," Healy said. "She screamed and said, 'Oh, a customer's been looking all over for this.'"

The clerk reunited the distraught customer with her errant money. Healy said the woman was in tears and asked what she could do to repay her. "I said, 'absolutely nothing,'" Healy said.

The sales clerk insisted on giving Healy a complimentary box of Frango mints, Marshall Field's signature candy.

Healy had planned on saving the candy for a hostess gift for the holidays, but her daughter opened the box. Inside was a ticket saying she had won $10,000.

"I've never won anything before. I've never won a toaster," she said.

The winning ticket is one of five Field's has put in boxes of Frango mints as part of its Win a Mint game. The other four prizes have not yet been claimed.
