KANSAS CITY, Mo., Dec. 9 (UPI) -- Something he should have seen coming, ended with a stare down.

Oakland Raiders coach Jack Del Rio called Kansas Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith's offense "gimmicky" after an October loss. It appears Smith and the Chiefs used the slant as motivation in its win Thursday at Arrowhead Stadium.

But after the game, it looked like Del Rio was still a little salty.

Following the 21-13 loss, Del Rio and Chiefs coach Andy Reid met at midfield. After coach Reid tapped Del Rio on the shoulder, Del Rio stared him down.

Part of that saltiness could be explained by Del Rio's 1-5 record against Reid as an NFL head coach. His last victory against Reid came more than a decade ago, when Del Rio's Jacksonville Jaguars knocked of Reid's Philadelphia Eagles 13-6 on Oct. 29, 2006.

The Chiefs now sit atop the AFC West, tied with the Raiders with a 10-3 record. Reid's team has won its last three games. The Raiders have another tough divisional matchup ahead, when it faces the San Diego Chargers at 4:25 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18 at Qualcomm Stadium.

"Not at all, not at all," Reid told reporters Friday when asked if there was animosity between the coaches.. "Jack and I are actually good friends, and I know people don't like to hear that because it's the Raiders, but not at all. There was nothing there, no."

Del Rio also commented on the postgame reaction by posting to Twitter.

"Nothing personal between us," Del Rio wrote. "Andy is a good man and good coach. They earned a hard fought victory last night. On to next...go Raiders."
