PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Juan Uribe socked a tie-breaking, eighth-inning homer Saturday and the San Francisco Giants downed Philadelphia 3-2 to win the National League pennant.

Uribe's homer to right field off Ryan Madson (0-1) barely cleared the fence, but it was just long enough to break a 2-2 tie.

Tim Lincecum and Brian Wilson made the lead hold, handing the Giants a 4-games-to-2 victory over Philadelphia in the National League Championship Series.

San Francisco collected the 18th NL pennant in its 128-year franchise history and now goes on to meet the Texas Rangers in the World Series, which starts Wednesday at AT&T Park in San Francisco.

Aubrey Huff drove in a run with a third-inning single and Buster Posey also came across in the frame on first baseman Ryan Howard's fielding error, erasing a 2-0 Phillies lead.

Javier Lopez (1-0) collected the victory after tossing a scoreless seventh inning. Starter Jonathan Sanchez was taken out after two innings, allowing a pair of runs on three hits.

Philadelphia starter Roy Oswalt lasted six innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on nine hits, walking none and striking out five.
