NHL: San Jose 3, Anaheim 2

ANAHEIM, Calif., Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Joe Thornton scored a goal and had an assist Saturday to lead the San Jose Sharks to a 3-2 road win over division rival Anaheim.

Thornton's goal with 11:11 to play in the game proved to be the winner for San Jose, which also had goals from Dany Heatley and Ryan Clowe.

Thornton beat Jonas Hiller with a wrist shot from the left side to break a 2-2 tie.

Evgeni Nabokov had 28 saves for San Jose. He withstood an 11-shot assault by Anaheim in the third period.

The Ducks had goals from Ryan Whitney and James Wisniewski. Hiller gave up three goals on 36 shots.

After Wisniewski gave Anaheim a 1-0 lead at 1:20 of the second period, Clowe and Heatley scored to put San Jose ahead 2-1. Whitney knotted the score 2-2 on a power-play goal with 14 seconds to play in the period.
