Europe ties women's Solheim Cup at 6-6

SUGAR GROVE, Ill., Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Europe scored 2 1/2 points in Saturday's fourball matches to even up the United States-Europe women's Solheim Cup at 6-6.

Christina Kim and Michelle Wie beat Europe's Helen Alfredsson and Tania Elosegui, 5-and-4, in the first match. Wie and Kim were the only winners for the Americans.

Catriona Matthew and Diana Luna came back from 2-down with two to go for a half against Americans Angela Stanford and Brittany Lang.

In Europe's victories, Suzann Pettersen and Anna Nordqvist beat Cristie Kerr and Nicole Castrale, 2-up, and Maria Hjorth and Gwladys Nocera posted a 1-up win over Brittany Lincicome and Kristy McPherson.

Twelve singles matches are scheduled for Sunday.
