NHL: Boston 4, New Jersey 3

BOSTON, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- P.J. Axelsson had a goal and two assists Saturday to pace the Boston Bruins to a 4-3 victory over the New Jersey Devils.

Marco Sturm added a goal and an assist and Phil Kessel had two assists for Boston, which has won three straight after losing six games in a row.

Boston goalie Tim Thomas blocked 42 of 45 shots. Dennis Wideman and Marc Savard also scored for the Bruins.

Dainius Zubrus had a goal and an assist for the Devils, who lost for just the second time in seven games. Johnny Oduya and Travis Zajac also scored for New Jersey.

Kevin Weekes, making a rare start as the Devils goalkeeper, made 21 saves.
