MIAMI, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Dante Culpepper threw for only 75 yards Sunday, but ran in three touchdowns and threw for two more, marshaling Oakland past Miami 35-17.
Culpepper', who completed 5 of 12 passes, continued the Raiders' resurrection that began last Sunday with a win over Cleveland that snapped an 11-game losing streak. Culpepper ran for 28 yards on seven carries.
The game was a homecoming for Culpepper who suffered a serious knee injury as a Dolphin last season that led to his departure during the offseason.
The Raiders (2-2) opened up a 14-0 lead after one quarter on Culpepper’s 7-yard TD pass to Jerry Porter, followed up by his 2-yard TD run.
Ronnie Brown scored on a 19-yard run for Miami (0-4) to make it 14-7 at the half. The Dolphins could only add a Jay Feely field goal and a 3-yard touchdown pass from Trent Green to Justin Peelle in the second half.
Meanwhile, Culpepper scored from 5 and 3 yards out and also hit Porter for a 27-yard score. Justin Fargas added to the Oakland attack with an impressive 179 yards on 22 carries.
