Yanks' Rodriguez leads AL All-Star voting

NEW YORK, June 26 (UPI) -- New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez remains the leading All-Star vote getter among American League players going into the final two days of balloting.

While in-stadium voting ended last Friday, online voting at mlb.com continues until 11:59 p.m. EST Thursday. Fans can vote up to 25 times on the Web site in helping to decide the starting players for the July 10 All-Star Game in San Francisco.

Rodriguez has piled up 2,542,551 votes. Two other players -- Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter (2,127,177) and the LA Angels outfielder Vladimir Guerrero (2,043,824) -- have also topped the 2 million vote mark.

Boston's David Ortiz has 1,810,440 votes to lead at first base and Detroit's Placido Polanco's 1,269,717 total is worth a slight lead at second base. Detroit's Ivan Rodriguez has 1,362,506 votes for a small lead at catcher.

In addition to Guerrero, the AL leaders in the outfield are the Chicago White Sox's Magglio Ordonez (1,445,899) and Seattle's Ichiro Suzuki (1,409,762).
