TENNIS FANS WIN FOOD MATCH

Tennis fans at the U.S. Open in New York City won their match against management's new policy prohibiting people from bringing food to the tennis tournament.

Some fans complained the new policy was aimed at having fans buy pricey concession food.

The New York Post reports a piece of pizza at the U.S. Open costs $7.75 a slice while an overstuffed deli sandwich costs $12.50.

John Harding of Restaurant Associates, the company catering the tournament, says the food prices haven't been raised in years and are competitive with what is charged for food at the Super Bowl.

However, after numerous complaints, the policy was changed back.

'GARAGE-WEAR' INSPIRED BY BEATNIK

The Von Dutch line of jeans, tank tops, T-shirts and trucker caps is hot with Hollywood celebrities, but many don't know the line's hot-rod history.

Von Dutch is the professional name of the late Kenneth Howard, a self-described beatnik who is credited with being the first to paint stripes and flames on cars and motorcycles, USA Today reports.

Five years ago the line sold its collection of 10 logo T-shirts to bikers and custom-car fanatics, but after adding jeans and jewelry, the look took off.

Despite being called "garage wear," jeans cost up to $190 and trucker caps go for up to $99.

HENDRIX TOPS GREATEST GUITARISTS LISTS

Of all the great guitarists in history, Jimi Hendrix was the greatest, according to a list produced by Rolling Stone magazine. Hendrix died at age 27 in 1970.

The Who guitarist Pete Townshend says Hendrix "made the electric guitar beautiful" and gave shows that were "so profoundly powerful," the BBC reports.

Duane Allman, of the Allman Brothers, who died in 1971, is second on the list followed by BB King and Eric Clapton.

Two women made the Top 100 Great Guitarists list -- Joni Mitchell at No. 72 and Joan Jett at No. 87, the BBC says.

The reporter who interviewed Simpson says he is keenly interested in the murder trials of Scott Peterson and Robert Blake, WABC-TV in Los Angeles reports.

"He feels that they are being tried by the media, and it's something he relates to and he feels it's very

unfair," Playboy magazine's David Sheff told ABC's "Good Morning America."

In the interview, Simpson still contends he's innocent of double murder of his wife and another man but that had he not had the money for his "dream team," he might not have been acquitted of murder charges.
