Carrie Underwood wins highest honor at CMT Awards for the third time in a row

NASHVILLE, June 6 (UPI) -- Carrie Underwood won big during Thursday night's CMT Awards in Nashville.

The 31-year-old star took home the fan-voted Video of The Year award for the third time in a row and the fifth in her career for her song "See You Again."

"It's really hard to believe," Underwood said while accepting her prize. "I've been doing this for nine years but every single second of those nine years you guys have been amazing."

Underwood also appeared in the performances of the night and closed the show along with Miranda Lambert with their song, "Somethin' Bad."

Lambert also took home the Female Video of The Year award for "Automatic" while her husband Blake Shelton won Male Video of The Year. Other notable winners included Florida Georgia Line, Luke Ryan, Lionel Richie, The Voice's Cassadee Pope, and The Band Perry.

Wednesday's show, which was hosted by Kristen Bell, also featured performances from Florida Georgia Line, Bryan, Jason Derulo, John Legend, Jennifer Nettles, Hunter Hayes and Keith Urban.

Kacey Musgraves and Lee Ann Womack did a special performance at the event paying tribute to Alan Jackson for his 25 years in the country music industry.
