Works by Soderbergh, the Coen brothers among Cannes film fest lineup

CANNES, France, April 18 (UPI) -- Movies by Steven Soderbergh, Roman Polanski and Alexander Payne will be competing at France's Cannes Film Festival next month, organizers said.

Soderbergh's "Behind the Candelabra" will compete with Polanski's "La Venus A La Fourrure," Payne's "Nebraska," Sofia Coppola's "The Bling Ring," James Franco's "As I Lay Dying," Valeria Golino's "Miele," and Joel and Ethan Coen's "Inside Llewyn Davis" for the festival's top prize the Palme d'Or.

Also expected to compete are the festival's opening night film "The Great Gatsby" by Baz Luhrmann and closer Jerome Salle's "Zulu."
