LOS ANGELES, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Despite widespread rumors and fan clamoring to the contrary, guitarist Slash said its unlikely he and Axl Rose reunite for a Guns N' Roses Comeback.

"People have been speculating about it for years, but I really have a hard time picturing it," Slash said in an interview with Guitar World.

Rumors picked up again after original Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan joined Rose's current lineup of the band, a lineup that does not include Slash or drummer Steve Adler, to play shows in South America.

"There hasn't been any communication along those lines between he [Rose] and I. I have a hard time picturing it, because I'm always focused on the next show. I'm one of those people who lives in the moment. I don't look too far into the future and I don't dwell too much on the past."

Slash and Rose reportedly haven't spoken since Slash left Guns N' Roses in 1996. When the group was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, Rose was a no-show. Slash, McKagan and Adler accepted the induction on the group's behalf.
