SEATLLE, Wash., Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Ariana Grande kicked off football season Thursday night by performing the national anthem at the NFL opener in Seattle's CenturyLink Field.

The 21-year-old singer sported her signature ponytail for the event along with a bedazzled Seahawks jersey and blue jeans. Her performance was followed by a game between the Seahawks and Packers.

Grande's rendition of the "Star-Spangled Banner" marks the first time she sang the anthem as a professional musician at a big time sporting event. She also performed the song at the age of 8, at a Florida Panthers hockey game.

The star's performance Thursday came days after her second album My Everything reached No. 1 on Billboard 200 -- this is her second album to do so in less than a year.
