JOSHUA SCOTT JONES: Joshua Scott Jones, half of the U.S. country music duo Steel Magnolia, said Thursday he has checked into rehab to be treated for substance abuse issues.

Jones made the announcement on his act's Web site, but did not say where exactly he is staying.

Meghan Linsey, his fiancee, makes up the other half of the duo.

"To all of our fans and to those whom it may concern, God has been on my heart to announce and make public that I have entered a rehabilitation and treatment facility to address issues related to alcohol and substance abuse," Jones said in his statement.

"Hundreds of thousands of people in the world struggle with these battles daily, therefore I am sincerely grateful for all thoughts and prayers at this very poignant juncture in my life and career. I would also like to thank my family, friends, record label and management team for being so supportive and having an active hand in my recovery process. Thank you and God bless."

MIKE MYERS: Mike Myers' publicist has confirmed the Canadian-born comedic actor-writer's wife, Kelly, has given birth to their first child.

The couple, who have been together since 2006, married last fall.

E! News said Thursday their son, Spike, was born two weeks ago.

"He is healthy and his parents are ecstatic," Myers' representative told the entertainment news Web site.

No other details about the baby's birth were immediately reported.

Myers is a former cast member of "Saturday Night Live." He is also known for his "Shrek," "Austin Powers" and "Wayne's World" movies.

MANDELA FAMILY: Three of Nelson Mandela's granddaughters have signed on to star in an as-yet-unnamed South African reality TV show set to premiere next year.

The South African Mail & Guardian Online said Swati Dlamini, Dorothy Adjoa Amuah and Zaziwe Dlamini-Manaway announced their unscripted television project Thursday.

"The show will be about our lives as young, black women ... We're not wearing 'I'm a Mandela' T-shirts," Dlamini told reporters in Johannesburg.

"We are exposing Africa for what it is ... with a new middle class of intellectuals ... contributing to the economy," Amuah added. "We're definitely not the African Kardashians."

"They clearly have a great love [for each other]. This may be part storytelling, part reality, except the story we are telling is real ... It's not going to detract from the dignity of Nelson Mandela," the newspaper quoted producer Rick Leed as saying.

The Mail & Guardian said the women's parents and grandparents are not expected to appear on the show.

Nelson Mandela, 93, was president of South Africa from 1994 to 1999 after having served 27 years in prison for his anti-apartheid activities.

RUSSELL BRAND: British comedian Russell Brand has been booked as a guest on the premiere episode of OWN's "The Rosie Show," The Hollywood Reporter said Thursday.

The new weekday chat series starring Rosie O'Donnell is to begin airing Oct. 10.

Brand is a stand-up comedian and the husband of pop star Katy Perry. His film credits include "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," "Bedtime Stories," "Hop," "Get Him to the Greek" and "Arthur."

He will next be seen in the movie musical "Rock of Ages."
