Filmmaker Christian Poveda shot to death

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- French-Spanish documentary director and photo journalist Christian Poveda has been shot and killed in El Salvador, police said.

Poveda, 52, is best known for his 2008 film festival favorite, "La Vida Loca," which was about street gangs in the Central American country.

Police told the BBC Poveda's body was found in a car north of the capital, San Salvador.

The British broadcaster quoted Salvadorean President Mauricio Funes as saying he was shocked by Poveda's death.

Police are investigating the circumstances of how he died and who killed him.

Media reports from the region claim Poveda witnessed seven homicides while working on "La Vida Loca."


DJ AM buried in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Adam Goldstein, the late celebrity disc jockey known as DJ AM, has been buried at a Los Angeles cemetery following a private funeral service.

Goldstein died of a suspected drug overdose in New York last week at the age of 36. Officials are waiting for the results of toxicology and other tests before determining and announcing the cause of his death.

Usmagazine.com said Goldstein was interred Wednesday afternoon at Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary after a private funeral at the Jewish cemetery where Jack Benny, Milton Berle and Michael Landon are also buried.

Goldstein's close friends, musician Travis Barker, actor Scott Caan and performer DJ Jazzy Jeff, were among the mourners who attended Wednesday's rites, Usmagazine.com said.

A public memorial service is scheduled for him at the Hollywood Palladium Thursday.


Lisa Loeb pregnant with first child

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Lisa Loeb's manager has confirmed the U.S. singer is pregnant with her first child.

Loeb, 41, married Roey Hershkovitz, a 31-year-old music production supervisor for "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien," last January.

"They're excited to welcome their first child this winter," Loeb's manager Janet Billig Rich told People.com exclusively.


'Feeling' still No. 1 on U.S. record chart

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- The Black Eyed Peas's "I Gotta Feeling" is No. 1 on the U.S. record chart for a 10th week, Billboard.com reported Thursday.

Coming in at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 is Jay Sean's "Down," featuring Lil Wayne, followed by

Miley Cyrus' "Party in the U.S.A." at No. 3, Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody" at No. 4 and Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me" at No. 5.

Rounding out the top tier are Jay-Z, Rihanna and Kanye West's "Run This Town" at No. 6, Drake's "Best I Ever Had" at No. 7, Keri Hilson's "Knock You Down," featuring Kanye West and Ne-Yo, at No. 8, Pitbull's "Hotel Room Service" at No. 9 and Cobra Starship's "Good Girls Go Bad," featuring Leighton Meester, at No. 10.
