MARSEILLES, France, July 19 (UPI) -- U.S. pop star Madonna has visited the family of a worker killed in a stage collapse in France and will meet three people hurt in the incident, officials say.

The officials said one of the injured is a U.S. national in serious condition.

Madonna arrived in Marseilles Sunday and immediately went to meet with the family of 52-year-old technician Charles Criscenzo, who was killed in Thursday's incident along with 23-year-old worker Charles Prow.

People.com said the "Like a Virgin" singer's Sunday show in the stadium was canceled because of the stage collapse, which left at least eight workers injured, People.com reported.

"My prayers go out to those who were injured and their families along with my deepest sympathy to all those affected by this heartbreaking news," Madonna said in a statement.
