The Toronto Star said the cause of the Scottish-Canadian musician's death is not yet known.

MacLean, who was in his early 50s, was discovered dead by his sister Pamela in the bathroom of his studio, which also featured living quarters, lying on the floor, holding a toothbrush with the water running, the Star said.

The musician performed Friday night at a release party for his new CD "Completely" at the Mod Club. He played on stage with Mark Holmes, his friend and the former lead singer of Platinum Blonde, the 1980s Toronto-based new wave group best known for its songs "Hungry Eyes" and "Crying Over You."

"This is devastating," Holmes told the newspaper. "He was incredibly happy -- everything was going well for him. ... Kenny and I even got together on the stage and sang three songs from old times. It was one of the happiest nights. It was kind of like a send-off. It was a big and successful party."

Colmes leaving Fox News program

WASHINGTON, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- Fox News has announced that Alan Colmes is leaving its "Hannity & Colmes" television program after 12 years.

Colmes told Newsday his last day will be in January and explained he is leaving the show "because it's a great time to make a change, and I can't think of a better time -- thankfully with a Democratic Congress and president, what more can I do?

"I expressed my desire to make a creative change with what I'm doing," Colmes said of how he broke the news to his employers. "They were a little surprised but understood and asked if I'd mind staying through the election. ... The country has a very different mindset, people are in a very different mood and I kind of felt that mood internally."

"Not only has Alan been a remarkable co-host, he's been a great friend, which is rare in this industry -- I'll genuinely miss sparring with such a skillful debate partner," liberal Colmes's conservative co-star Sean Hannity said in a statement.

Colmes isn't leaving Fox News entirely, however and is to be seen in an upcoming new weekend show, Newsday reported.

The newspaper said it is unclear whether Colmes will be replaced on "Hannity & Colmes."

Amy Winehouse hospitalized

LONDON, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- Amy Winehouse's publicist says the British soul singer has been hospitalized due to an adverse reaction to her prescription medication.

Winehouse spokesman Chris Goodman told CNN Tuesday that the recording artist was taken Sunday to the private London Clinic so doctors could determine what the problem was. It was unclear whether she had since been released from the facility, the news outlet said.

The singer has long battled an addiction to drugs and was diagnosed months ago as being in the early stages of emphysema.

CNN said Goodman didn't say to what medicine Winehouse had a negative reaction.

Winehouse was hospitalized in July after her medication reportedly made her ill.

Britain's News of the World newspaper reported this week that Winehouse's husband, the recently released from jail Blake Fielder-Civil, had left the Grammy Award winner for a German model.

Sheen was advised against meeting Frost

NEW YORK, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- British actor Michael Sheen says he was warned against meeting David Frost until after he started performances of the play "Frost/Nixon."

Sheen played the TV personality in the West End and on Broadway. He reprises the role in Ron Howard's upcoming film adaptation of Peter Morgan's stage drama about how Frost secured exclusive interviews with former U.S. President Richard Nixon after Nixon resigned due to the Watergate scandal.

Sheen told UPI in New York recently that Morgan warned him before they went into rehearsals for the play that even though Frost was willing to talk to him, Sheen shouldn't meet him right away because Morgan didn't want Sheen to "get too close to (Frost) too soon."

"Now I understand what (Morgan) means," Sheen added. "(Frost) is so charming and so engaging and the part that I had to go on playing as him is a fairly warts-and-all thing kind of thing and it's not the most flattering portrayal of a person possible and maybe I would have resisted going down certain areas of the character if I had gotten to know him earlier."

Sheen went on to say that as soon as he had agreed to wait to meet Frost, he started seeing him everywhere he went.

"I had to hide from him," Sheen recalled. "Because he knew that I was playing him and he wanted to come and presumably do just that (tell me) -- 'Don't do this' and 'Don't do that' and 'Make sure you …' And so I had to hide."
