Neil Diamond makes Welsh debut

CARDIFF, Wales, June 20 (UPI) -- U.S. recording artist Neil Diamond reportedly made his Welsh debut this week before a crowd of 24,600 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

"Thank you Cardiff," the Western Mail quoted the 67-year-old crooner as telling the audience that greeted him with a standing ovation Thursday night. "We are going to do as many favorites as we possibly can. And we will leave our hearts on the stage tonight, so enjoy."

The newspaper said Diamond performed more than 20 songs, including classics such as "Love on the Rocks, " "Play Me" and "Sweet Caroline," as well as new works such as "Home Before Dark" and "Pretty Amazing Grace" from his latest album "Home Before Dark."
