CANNES, France, April 7 (UPI) -- "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" is to premiere at France's upcoming Cannes Film Festival, one of the movie's co-stars confirmed.

Actor John Hurt told BBC One the fourth installment of the popular adventure film franchise is scheduled to debut at the film festival next month.

Hurt plays Abner Ravenwood, Marion's father, in the movie, which is to open in theaters May 22. Marion was played by Karen Allen in the first Indiana Jones outing, "Raiders of the Lost Ark."

Although Hurt said he couldn't reveal any details about the new film's plot, he did say action star Harrison Ford is "brilliant" in the movie, which co-stars Cate Blanchett and Shia LaBeouf.

"I have nothing but good things to say about (Ford). He understands that whole franchise. He is that franchise," Hurt said.

The Cannes schedule will not be officially announced until later this month, the BBC said.
