LOS ANGELES, March 5 (UPI) -- Touring before recording was the key to a successful reunion for U.S. rockers the Black Crowes.
After a three-year hiatus, the group reunited in 2005 but waited until this year to put out "Warpaint," its first new album since 2001 and the first on its own label, Silver Arrow.
"I feel the band has been very good the last few years," front man Chris Robinson, who released two solo albums during the Crowes' time off, said. "We've done a lot of different things...hit a lot of things musically that I think were interesting for us.
"So what makes ('Warpaint') so vibrant is we found our way to this music as opposed to trying to make something happen when it just wouldn't have been right."
The current version of the Crowes features two new members -- North Mississippi Allstars guitarist Luther Dickinson and keyboardist Adam MacDougall. The group is on its One Night Only tour, during which it's playing "Warpaint" in its entirety.
