'Jeopardy!' teen tourney set

CULVER CITY, Calif., July 9 (UPI) -- Fifteen U.S. teenagers will figure out questions to answers as the popular "Jeopardy!" TV show holds its first-ever Summer Games Teen Tournament.

The contestants flew into Los Angeles in March for the two-week competition scheduled to air July 16-26, the game show's spokesman said in a news release Monday.

Battling for a minimum $75,000 grand prize, the teenagers duke it out intellectually during the 10-day competition. In the first week, players compete in five shows, with each day's winners advancing along with the four highest non-winning money-earners. In the semifinal rounds, each winner from the first three days will advance to a two-day final round.

The three finalists keep the money they accumulate in the last two games of the answer-and-question show, with a minimum guarantee of $25,000 for second place and $15,000 for third place. The overall winner is guaranteed $75,000.

Players reaching the semifinals are guaranteed $10,000, while every player is guaranteed at least $5,000.
