NEW YORK, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Meredith Vieira, formerly a co-host on "The View," is having trouble getting up early as she takes a seat as co-host of NBC's "Today" show.

Vieira has to meet the challenge by Wednesday morning when she takes Katie Couric's place alongside Matt Lauer on "Today," the New York Daily News reported.

Viera told sources that when she found out she was replacing Couric, she knew it would be difficult -- and she tried waking at 3:30 a.m. every day.

"And a couple months into it a little voice in my head said at 3:30, 'You're mentally ill, don't get up.' So I stopped doing that," Vieira said. "I woke up, but didn't get out of bed. Last week I realized, I've got to get back into it. But I haven't quite got it down. I think your body sort of does it to you eventually anyhow, you collapse."
