New 'old' take on James Bond theme

LONDON, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- The original composer of the "James Bond" theme is re-recording the song with its original orchestration and lyrics, it was reported Monday.

Monty Norman, 77, wrote the familiar tune for a musical based on the book, "A House for Mr. Biswas," the BBC reported. The song was called "Bad Sign, Good Sign."

But when he was hired to write the music for "Dr. No," the first movie featuring Agent 007, Norman reworked "Bad Sign, Good Sign" and John Barry provided the orchestration for the theme song now known to moviegoers worldwide.

Norman's new album, "Completing the Circle," will include his original orchestration, which is different from Barry's, as well as the lyrics penned by Julian More and Monty Newman.

The lyrics include the lines:

"I was born with this unlucky sneeze

And what is worse I came into the world the wrong way round

Pundits all agree I am the reason why

My father fell into the village pond and drowned."
