'Chucky' film has Britney disclaimer

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Ads for the new "Chucky" film, featuring a Britney Spears look-alike exploding, now carry a disclaimer saying the pop star is not in the Hollywood movie.

The phrase "Britney Spears does not appear in this movie" is plastered on TV commercials for "Seed of Chucky" in response to complaints from Spears's camp about the connection between the pop diva and the horror/comedy film, E! Online reported Tuesday.

"It was getting a little contentious between her camp and our camp," said Don Mancini, the film's writer/director.

Spears and the demonic doll Chucky reportedly go way back.

The fourth film, "Bride of Chucky," originally used Spears' signature hit, "Baby One More Time" to serenade the doll and his action figure lover. When Spears' management complained, "Chucky" producers pulled the tune.

"We can confirm Chucky does in fact have a crush on Britney -- and she has an open invitation to screen the film at anytime," said the producers' spokesperson.

"Seed of Chucky," the fifth film in the franchise, opens Friday in U.S. theaters.
