Jim Carrey voices 'Snicket' video game

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Jim Carrey will appear in the video game tie-in for "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events," The Hollywood Reporter said Thursday.

The paper said Activision confirmed Carrey -- who stars as the evil Count Olaf in the upcoming movie version of Daniel Handler's series of children's books -- reprised his role for the game. The package, featuring Carrey's likeness as well as his voice, is scheduled for Nov. 9 release.

"Jim Carrey spent an entire day in the studio recording voice-over for the Count Olaf, Stephano and Captain Sham characters in the game," Activision executive Lisa Gaudio said. "Mr. Carrey was given a script to work from, however, he ad-libbed a lot of the voice-over so that he could truly lend his personality to the characters."

The Reporter said Carrey has complete approval rights over every aspect of his characte, and has been involved in creating the game from the ground up. The game will also feature the voices and likenesses of Liam Aiken and Emily Browning, who play the orphans Klaus and Violet Beaudelaire, and Tim Curry, who narrates the "Lemony Snicket" audio books.
