Musica statue sparks 'Hillbilly Porn' tune

NASHVILLE, July 21 (UPI) -- Musica, a bronze sculpture of nudes in Nashville, Tenn., inspired a songwriter to pen a tune titled "Hillbilly Porn," the Tennessean reported Wednesday.

The song, with the chorus, "If it makes you think dirty/go ahead honk your horn/Oh, the mayor done bought us some hillbilly porn," is making the rounds on the Internet and radio stations.

Lee Thomas Miller said he and his friends thought the 40-foot Musica was ugly when it was unveiled last October in the part of Nashville known as Music Row.

"They put those statues up, and everyone stood around and laughed. My wife said, 'You've gotta write that song,'" Miller, 34, said.

Miller has written No. 1 hits for Joe Nichols ("The Impossible") and Terri Clark ("I Just Wanna Be Mad").

The song has failed to amuse Nashville Mayor Bill Purcell, who is offended by the reference he spent city funds to buy the art.

"He didn't buy that," said Ava Philson, the mayor's spokeswoman.

The $1.1 million sculpture by Alan LeQuire was purchased with anonymous private funding.
