Monty Python's 'Spamalot' set for Chicago

CHICAGO, July 8 (UPI) -- "Monty Python's Spamalot," based on the irreverent 1975 film, is set to open in Chicago with "Frasier" star David Hyde Pierce headlining the musical.

The show, based on "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," will make its pre-Broadway debut Dec. 21 at the Chicago Shubert Theatre, the Chicago Tribune reported Thursday.

"Spamalot" is set to run through Jan. 16 in Chicago, with the show moving to Broadway Feb. 7 for previews and opening March 10 at New York's Shubert Theatre.

Hyde Pierce, known for his long running role as Niles on TV's "Frasier," will make his Broadway musical debut as Sir Robin.

Tim Curry, who starred as Frank N. Furter in cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," has been cast as King Arthur.

Hank Azaria, whose work on "The Simpsons" earned him three Emmys, will play Sir Lancelot in the musical.
