Rock's Sam Roberts wins big at Juno Awards

EDMONTON, Alberta, April 5 (UPI) -- Rock musician Sam Roberts was the top winner at the Juno Awards, taking home three trophies at Canada's top music honors.

The Montreal-based musician was named best artist and won for best album and best rock album for "We Were Born In A Flame," at Sunday's event, said Monday's Hollywood Reporter.

Nickelback was the only other multiple honoree, winning for best group and the Juno Fan Choice Award, as determined by Canadians.

Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan took home the Juno for songwriter of the year for "World on Fire," "Fallen" and "Stupid."

Nelly Furtado's song "Powerless" was named single of the year and Master Plan's "In Essence" received the award for R&B soul recording of the year.

Billy Talent received a Juno for best new group.

Alanis Morissette hosted the event, which was broadcast on CTV.
