Keaton: We need more women writers

NEW YORK, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Diane Keaton thinks that if there were more female writers in Hollywood there would be more and better parts for older actresses.

"The role that is most scarce is the role of the writer," the "Annie Hall" icon told reporters in New York recently. "So, the role's secondary to those who can write it ... I think that's more interesting than the endless truth and the fact that roles diminish as you get older."

Keaton's latest role is that of a divorced playwright torn between two men played by Jack Nicholson and Keanu Reeves in Nancy Meyers' new romantic comedy "Something's Gotta Give."
