Polanski casts for libel suit

LONDON, July 14 (UPI) -- Roman Polanski is lining up an all-star cast from his most famous films to testify in a libel suit against Vanity Fair.

The magazine wrote he propositioned a Swedish beauty on the eve of his murdered wife's funeral.

Polanski, who lives in Paris because of longstanding rape charges against him in the United States, is hoping to testify via video link, The Times of London reported.

On his wish list of witnesses for the trial that begins in November are Mia Farrow, Catherine Deneuve and Adrien Brody.

He was charged in 1977 with the statutory rape of a 13-year-old at Jack Nicholson's home. He agreed to plead guilty but fled the country while awaiting sentencing.

Vanity Fair wrote a year ago he made a sexual overture to the Swede at a restaurant when he stopped in New York en route to the funeral of actress wife Sharon Tate.
