Dyncorp to aid Kuwait in helo maintenance

FAIRFAX, Va., April 13 (UPI) -- The U.S. Army has given DynCorp International a $25.4 million contract to provide helicopter maintenance support to the Kuwait air force.

Under the award, the DynCorp International will specifically support the Kuwait air force in its maintenance program for AH-64D Block II Apaches. The service has 16 of the U.S. attack helicopters.

"This is a great win because it reaffirms our valuable relationship with the U.S. Army," said Jim Myles, group vice president of Aviation, DynCorp International. "We take pride in the confidence they have in our team as we continue to support them."

The contract is a fixed-price contract that was competitively awarded, the company said. It features a one-year base period of performance as well as provisions for four, one-year contract options.

Additional details about the contract weren't provided by DynCorp International, which has headquarters in Virginia.
