WOOD DALE, Ill., March 16 (UPI) -- Airbus Military of Spain has contracted AAR of the United States to improve its supply chain for the repair of aircraft components.

Under the five-year effort, AAR will provide a single point of contact for the repair of components that Airbus Military previously outsourced to multiple vendors. It will mainly focus on support of CASA C-212, CN-235 and C-295 aircraft but will be broad enough to include other aircraft.

AAR also has been tasked to establish and manage the logistics of a Repair Hub at the Airbus Military facilities at San Pablo Norte Spain.

"We have major challenges in the coming years and making that strategy happen requires a global transformation plan to achieve services proficiency," said Philippe Galland, senior vice president of Airbus Military and head of Customer Services.

"The collaboration with AAR forms part of our road map toward performance and cost-effective value for our customers all around the world."

AAR, which had headquarters in Illinois, has extensive supply chain and component repair management for commercial airlines and government. It said that with that experience it is "confident that this is the first step toward a long and mutually beneficial relationship between AAR and Airbus Military."
