Alion wins $200M Navy support contract

MCLEAN, Va., March 18 (UPI) -- Alion Science and Technology of Virginia is providing the U.S. Navy with weapon systems program management and acquisition support under a $200 million award.

The delivery order for the Navy Program Executive Office Integrated Warfare Systems was given through a NAVSEA SeaPort Enhanced contract.

Under the award, Alion will perform project management, financial management, foreign military sales services, acquisition management and configuration management for combat systems that are under the cognizance of PEO IWS 1, 4, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12 and 14.

This includes support in the acquisition, production and delivery of combat systems such as the Aegis Weapon System and the Ship Self Defense System, and support for the development and integration of combat systems for a variety of ship classes.

Among the ships: aircraft carriers, DDG 1000, amphibious, littoral Combatant Ship and U.S. Coast Guard ships.

"Alion looks forward to continuing our support to PEO IWS in the acquisition of combat systems for surface combatants for the U.S. Navy and its allies," said retired Navy Vice Adm. Scott Fry, Alion senior vice president and manager of the Engineering and Integration Solutions Sector.

"Our thorough knowledge of surface combatant requirements will help PEO IWS to meet its mission of providing integrated combat systems to the fleet."

The period of performance runs until Feb. 18, 2016.

Alion's partners in the order are Apextech, BAE, Delta, Gryphon, Herren Associates, ICI, Kratos/DTI, MEI, Northrop Grumman, SCI, SEG, SI, SYS, TMB, TSC and VT Group.
