MCLEAN, Va., Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Alion Science and Technology has received a contracted to support the U.S. Defense Department with assessments automation services.

U.S. company Alion was awarded the contract from the Navy Information Operations Command. The $2.8 million task order, awarded under the Modeling and Simulation Information Analysis Center contract vehicle, is for Alion to support Defense Department OPSEC decision-makers.

Officials say Alion will enhance and support its Operations Security Collaboration Architecture, or OSCAR, automated system, which is designed to support critical information analysis and improve situational awareness.

"We believe that through the development and deployment of OSCAR, Alion has helped the OPSEC community take a major step forward," Dick Brooks, Alion senior vice president and manager of the Distributed Simulation Group, said in a statement.

"OSCAR enables OPSEC managers to identify critical information, analyze threats, assess vulnerabilities, analyze risks and apply countermeasures. We are supporting the Defense Department by providing a framework to track security implementation based on risk reduction."
