WASHINGTON, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Lasko Products Inc. of West Chester, Pa., is recalling 107,500 electric heaters that can overheat and melt, a federal watchdog agency said.

An electrical connection on the heater imported from China can melt the base of the heater, which could result in a fire, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a statement.

The recall involves Lasko Model 5540 and Air King Model 8540 heaters manufactured in 2002. The date codes on the recalled heaters, located at the bottom of the unit, begin with a 2.

Consumers were advised to stop using the heaters and contact Lasko for a replacement.
