KIEV, Ukraine, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- A volunteer medic in Kiev tweeted "I'm dying" shortly after being seen in a video where she was shot in the neck.
Volunteer medic Olesya Zhukovskaya posted on the Russian version of Facebook, VKontakte, as well, but her death has not yet been confirmed due to the chaos in the area. The violence is worse than ever after a truce between the Ukrainian government and the opposition collapsed.
Я вмираю
— Olesya Zhukovskaya (@OlesyaZhukovska) February 20, 2014
The truce fell apart quickly as the police resumed their crackdown on protesters. Andrew Foxhall, director of Russian Studies at the Henry Jackson Society, believes the renewed crackdown is due to the promise of $2 billion of aid from Russia.
More than 100 people are suspected to be dead and another 500 injured, including medics like Zhukovskaya.
