PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- The Philadelphia 76ers announced that they will be signing Bensalem High School senior Kevin Grow to a two-day contract on Monday, allowing him to eat dinner in the players lounge, join the team for practice and shoot around with his new teammates.

Grow has Down syndrome but was still able to work as his high school basketball team's manager for four seasons. During the team’s final two games, Grow, 18, got to play and scored 17 total points including three 3-pointers and a game-winning basket against Neshaminy.

"I hit a buzzer beater and it was party time in the locker room," Grow told WPVI.

Before the team’s home game on Tuesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Grow will be presented with a custom jersey and stand with his team during the National Anthem. During a timeout on Tuesday, the Bensalem High School basketball team will join Grow on the court for a special presentation.

"Grow has become an inspiration to the Sixers organization, as his story has swept the nation," according to a statement from the Sixers.
