La Toya Jackson marries Jeffre Phillips in Los Angeles

Dec. 9 (UPI) -- La Toya Jackson married her longtime friend and business partner Jeffre Phillips Thursday in Los Angeles.

Michael Jackson's 57-year-old sister was proposed to during her reality show Life With La Toya which airs on Oprah Winfrey's OWN network.

According to Radar Online, Jackson's mother, Katherine Jackson, and nephew Prince Jackson were in attendance at the wedding.

Jackson previously married her former manager Jack Gordon in 1989. She has said she was only married in name and confessed that she was forced to marry and that she suffered years of abuse during the course of the relationship. She filed for divorce in 1996.

"When I left him, I thought I don't ever want to see another man for the rest of my life," she told Us Weekly in 2011. "In my mind it wasn't my fault but if it happens again it's my fault because I could've learned from my mistakes."

In 2011 Jackson spoke of Phillips as her best friend.

"I have a best friend by the name of Jeffre Phillips who I simply adore. He is a wonderful person. We click very well and we are best friends. We think alike which is great."
