Abigail Breslin poses topless in racy Tyler Shield photo shoot

Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Abigail Breslin is no longer Little Miss Sunshine and she knows it.

The 17-year-old star can be seen posing topless in the latest set of pictures from the The Dirty Side of Glamour series shot by photographer Tyler Shield.

In the images, Breslin appears wearing heavy dark makeup and nothing else while posing against a white background and inside a bubbly tub. The controversial photos show a completely new side of the young actress.

"I wanted to do something iconic with her, something simple but timeless," Shields tells E! News. "She's the perfect subject for something like this. Incredibly talented, beautiful actress but no one has ever seen her like this. There's fun in that -- showing someone to the world for the first time."

The photographer explained that he shot the pictures like a movie and that Breslin was "game" and knew exactly what the goal was.

Breslin, who worked work with Shield in the past during the movie Final Girl, explained that the pictures are not meant to shock people in any way.

"I love working with Tyler, we always have a blast. We just do it for fun and he's great," she told E! News of the shoot.

"I don't make these conscious decisions to do it to like prove to the world that I'm grown up. I think people see my work and see what I do and see that I'm grown up. But yeah, I'm almost 18. Every headline for the past three years has been 'Abigail Breslin All Grown Up,' so I am kind of growing up. I do want to try different things but its all for fun."
