Raptors mascot out for the season after achilles tendon tear

The Toronto Raptors mascot "The Raptor" wont be cheering for his team anytime soon.

According to the Toronto Sun, the mascot will be out for the season after suffering from a torn Achilles during a school visit in Halifax over the weekend.

The team said The Raptor will undergo surgery soon. In the meantime the team is reportedly working on a back-up plan for the rest of the season.

Head coach Dwane Casey says his daughter cried when she learned of the injury and added the Raptor is a valued member of the organization who will be back.
