Former Disney star Selena Gomez praised Miley Cyrus's controversial MTV VMAs performance while speaking to reporters at the Barclays Center's press room on Sunday.

"[It was] amazing. I thought it was awesome," Gomez told Us Weekly. "I like Robin Thicke too, so I like that they [collaborated]. I thought that was good."

On Sunday, the 21-year-old star took home the coveted "Best Pop Video" award for her summer hit "Come and Get It." Gomez's video beat Cyrus's "We Can't Stop" and summer favorites "Get Lucky" (Daft Punk) and the controversial "Blurred Lines" (Thicke).

"I remember actually watching some of my idols get this award so I'm pretty stoked," Gomez said of her MTV Moonman. "I didn't think I was going to win, to be honest. I really didn't. I think Robin Thicke should've won."

Asked about her work, and what inspired her No. 1 album "Stars Dance," Gomez said she "genuinely just [tries] to be the best that [she] can be."

According to Us Weekly, Gomez's first Moonman might be last she gets in a while as she said last week she would be focusing on acting "for a really long period of time" after touring her current record.

"One day I want to do acting and just that, and then other times I just want to do music and just that, so it changes," Gomez said Wednsday. "But this is my last record for a while. I'm going to tour it and then I'm going to just kind of get into acting for a really long period of time, hopefully."
