Amanda Seyfried talks 'Lovelace' sex, violence scenes at screening

By KATE STANTON, UPI.com

Amanda Seyfried and her "Lovelace" co-stars -- Peter Sarsgaard, Sharon Stone and Debi Mazar -- attended a screening for the film at New York City's MoMa on Tuesday. Seyfried, who plays Linda Lovelace in the biopic, has been open about her reservations with the part -- she told Elle earlier this month that she thought the part was a risky move.

"The first thing you think about is that it could have ruined my career," she said at the time. "At the same time, I was like, 'This is my chance to show them, to show the industry, to be recognized.'"

At the film's New York screening, however, Seyfried seemed proud of her work, telling ET cameras that she wanted to give Lovelace a voice.

"She had a lot to say," Seyfried said.

As for the sex and violence that's sure to be a part of the movie, Seyfried said she was mostly worried about having her father see her naked.

"I don't want my dad to see my naked body ever," she told reporters.

I'm going to sit through [the screening] tonight and cover his eyes. It's really only the nudity. I don't have problems with him seeing me in violent situations. In sexual situations, it's a little tough, but it's more just the nudity. I think anybody can relate to that.

"I mean, you choreograph scenes like that more than you choreograph other scenes," said Sarsgaard, who plays Lovelace's allegedly violent and abusive husband Chuck Traynor. "You don't usually just say, 'One, two, three, go!' You figure out what happens. Who's on top? Who's on bottom?"

Seyfried said that "Lovelace's" violent scenes were much more difficult to film.

"The violence was tough. It's not that I was afraid of being hurt or anything like that, I was afraid of where it would take me because we're depicting something that was really happening to this woman," she said.

"Lovelace" hits theaters on Friday, August 9.
